What time do they let the animals out?
Hehehe... YES this is a question we actually get. The animals in Yellowstone Park and the surrounding areas are wild animals and roam freely where they please. While optimal viewing is considered by some to be early morining or evening, you're likely to see animals no matter where you are in the park or what time you are there. Don't forget you can see many of Yellowstone's famous animals up-close at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center right near the West Entrance to Yellowstone National Park on Canyon Street in West Yellowstone!

All the animals in Yellowstone National Park are wild and potentially dangerous. While they may seem cute and cuddly, all wildlife can harm you and will if they feel threatened. Learn and follow the guidelines set out by the local authorities and the park service. Do not approach animals or exit your vehicle to better see animals near the roadways. Consider binoculars to enjoy close-up views, they are available to rent at The Yellowstone Camera Store on Canyon Street in downtown West Yellowstone.

If you are considering renting or purchasing bear-spray for your trip we highly recommend that you research proper use techniques. The National Park Service has put out several instructive videos on this subject and their website also offers a multitude of other important  items. Click HERE to see National Park Service videos and find more informationon on wildlife safety. You can purchase bear spray at local grocery stores and other locations in town as well as rent it in Canyon Village inside Yellowstone National Park. It is not permissible to fly with bear spray.
